Good times, The v1 of the bios board arrived today. This post will document how it goes...

This is still W.I.P. Project, LOTS TO DO and LOTS UNKNOWN armed with this PCB that should slowly dwindle.


Thanks to @Mr T Guru @CoolFox @smf @caius for your ideas and work on this concept.

You all seen the psychic force insane video, this is a streamline version of that hack.

Hammy brother , you know what to do further ! Hope more friends to be involved in other projects you've almost done too (at least ZN2 will be a very big hit)
 
Taito TT01 bios fully cracked:




This fix should port to capcom ZN1 and the other various other early ones (video system, raizing etc)

This breakthrough MAY (or may not) help with the tecmo / ZN2 games.

Hopefully someone will come forward with an aero fighters special rom board.

Based on your description of how the encryption works. I wonder if it would be possible to re=encrypt essentially using a "zero" chip on the ROM board but keep the original key on the mobo there by allowing you to swap games without modifying the mobo bios or key.

The way this hack works, i don't think you need any cat chips :D

The "old" way needed the motherboard key.
 
Strider 2 has extra security on the graphics, and random lockups from mid game checks.
Also the test mode has extra security also!

I hear a lot of the "old bootlegs / conversions" have in game crashes due to those checks (SFEX2 crash on vega, the bloody roar 2 that crashes etc)
These games will need a lot of testing to be sure all the checks are found!

maybe the odd test still to find, but all seems good including vega ;)

Next question is primal rage 2, don't bother - it won't fit on the roms.
If someone will dump the altera CPLD i can remake the thing. Until then don't ask.

To fuck with G-Net i'd need one , porting more crap to it will only raise the price thus fucking myself up LOL
 
I'm sorry but I was misunderstood I don't mean the gnet games.
But since the gnet is composed by 3 PCBs and the main board is a Sony ZN2 (if I'm not wrong) I was asking if the mainboard can be used with the proper romboard for a future product from you :)

Prob. not worth modding, it would then be useless for the g-net.
The GPU's are different on the ZN1 and ZN2 also , mixing the hardware prob won't work.
