What's new
Thank you! Also if purchasing a prebuilt MiniGun on Ebay is sacrilege, I understand and, I apologize. I just like to play games. :)
I've built two of these. Pretty strait forward. What are they charging for these? Do they come with a 3D enclosure?

No shame in it at all.

I started with buying pre built too since I didnt know how to solder.

That said, this hobby has sparked my interest in learning since and have started taking baby steps first with installing infinikeys into Cps2 boards.

I plan on moving to more advanced projects soon enough as well.

I’ve done some recapping of old game consoles a snes, nes, pc engine duo. Modded a genesis model 1 for s-video. But Idk this seems a little more hardcore and with work I just dont have the time. The ones I’m seeing don’t have a 3D enclosure which is a bummer. I’d love to have something just to keep the dust out. This is really just for my tate PVM set up. I’d like to use my HAS with my S-Video set up on my Trinitron. The MiniGuns I’m looking at are about $90. Which, for a good Supergun that doesn’t seem bad. Assuming they’re using good stuff. But I’m not sure. I only just started reading about the MiniGun this morning. Seems pretty friggin amazing really.

If you've recapped a Duo I think you can handle a Minigun too. Use solder paste for the SMD components.

If you want to DIY this one, the legs on the THS7374 are really, really small - everthing else is more or less easy, but you should be aware of thais one.

With solder paste it's not too bad. Put a very small amount of it on the pads, place the chip on top and then heat up the legs. If the paste is any decent and as long as there's not too much of it, it will make a clean joint and won't bridge.

You can practice it with some TSSOP-14 to DIP adapters. Both the chips and the adapters are very cheap. Bonus, THS7374 on a DIP adapter is also very useful for other modding projects.

There are members here that sell them on eBay. Not sacrilege.

I have purchased 3 so far.

I know you asked about scart cables. The ones suggested are great. I've used the insurrection and retrogamingcables cables.

HD retrovision component cables work well too.

I paid $60 for 2 of mine and $80 for the last one.

They all work great.

$90 seems like the high end, but still reasonable.

Anyone know if there is any sort of sync cleaner which has a SCART/JP-21 connection for both input and output? Or even a Din 8 for both?

The one that frank created has a Din 8 to VGA port which I'd imagine would be great for OSSC owners, but not an option for me with only an XRGB.

I've seen similar devices with similar output using only VGA, so it seems VGA is quite popular...

Okay, so I've been using a Minigun over the weekend on my PVM and it's pretty awesome! Super stoked on it. One question though. Does anybody make any kind of enclosures for these? Would love to get something simple just to keep the dust out.

Yes, people designed a 3d print case for the minigun. I'm sure it is in this thread somewhere.

I know it was designed with the 1.7 and 2.1 versions in mind. Don't know if it fits the 2.5 or whatever the latest version is. I have the 3D printed one on both my miniguns.

Cool, thanks!

Thanks again to everybody! Would love to get into 3D printing. I bet that's a super cool rabbit hole to go down.

I would like to say this. I'm really enjoying my MiniGun right now. It works great and in my opinion the image quality is friggin awesome. Played a lot of Viper Phase 1 on mine and I'm having a blast. To everybody involved in all of these amazing projects, I just wanted to say thank you very much. You are all wizards!

I'd like to buy a minigun with a mini din 9. Does anyone know if this is a good buy or should I look at another option?

It's fine. The prices are creeping up on them.
I was able to buy 2 for $60/each. The last one I purchased was in the $80-90 range. I forget the exact amount.

If it's built correctly (I see no reason it wouldn't be) it's worth the money.

No problem.

Enjoy it.

I almost bought from that seller as well. I don't know where I would put the power supply for my 4th minigun though.
I noticed it has a jumper for 75 ohm or TTL sync. Do you know if one need a jumper shunt for this to select TTL sync or by default a Genesis cable would work? I'm not sure what the default option is. I plan on using the Rad2x and I read Genesis outputs TTL sync. I found out I need a jumper shunt through someone else asking about it.
