Are you writing from a Mac or a PC?
Just now using a Win 7 computer, I did a quick format FAT32 on the SD card (tried to do full slow format, it wouldn't allow). Then I ejected the SD card and did another quick format FAT32.

Next, I re-downloaded the entire 7z file on the Win 7 PC, and unzipped it on the Win 7 PC and added the "games" folder to the root directory of the SD card. No other visible files are on the SD card.

Unfortunately, I am getting the same results: CPS 1 games function, though CPS 1.5 have no audio over JAMMA edge and any Slammasters or Musclebomber games either show a blank screen or an address error code.

---the first time I wrote to this card I did use a Mac, did a terminal "dot fix" to get rid of files a Mac can put on an SD card which fixed many issues, but then I deleted the games folder and unzipped the 7z file with a Win 7 PC and put it on the SD card which resulted in the present state. Then I went back with the Win 7 PC and did the quick format FAT32 per above and reinstalled the "games" folder to the same effect.--

Do you have another A-board to try?
Have you checked your 12v are on point?
Maybe check Q-sound pcb if it's properly seated.
Your roms have the structure previously mentioned in the first post? And they are located in the root of your Sd under "games" folder?
What about the Q-sound dupont cable, can you re check? Step 2 and 4 of cps1 multi guide.

I could try another A-board, this one worked fine on a CPS1 SF2CE before using.

So far, have tried the multi in three different JAMMA setups, each which have played other games fine. I'll multimeter the 12V on the edge connector now.

On the SD card root, there is one folder, "games" and all the individual games have folders inside (transferred untouched from the unzipped download file)

I would re-check step 2 and 4 of cps1 multi guide. Check the cable, check each end with multimeter, check the reference photo for the exact point, maybe you missed something, try resoldering and reconnecting to Q-sound pin.

Tested volts and received 11.66v at the 12v spot.

The solder points for Qsound and Reset are as shown. I used the red wire for Qsound as it was too short to use for the Reset. Using a multimeter continuity test shows good connection from the solder point to the underside of the pin that the other end of the wire plugs into. Using a multimeter also shows the soldering is clean and is not mistakenly connected to additional adjacent pins.

so you plug the red where it says Qsound, right? and the green where it says Reset?

Yeah, I suppose I’ll try a different A board and will remember to swap PALs etc.

Update: I tried another A Dash 12mhz board that was tested working immediately before from a SF2CE (photo shown).

Unfortunately I am getting the same results. When I booted 74 Musclebomber I get the same visual blocks as when I had tested the other board using the PAL that originally came with the A board. Attempting 72 Musclebomber gave me this Address error shown in the photo which is similar to before when using the new PAL.

Wondering if the new PAL sent to me with the multi is bad or incorrect, or where to go from here. Due to the fact that all Musclebomber and Slammaster games do not run there would seem to be something special going on with that. Punisher and C&D play fine but no sound.

Or a C board issue?

Thanks for your help/thoughts this far.

Is any Qsound game outputting sound at all?

I would say that maybe your C board is bad. If you can try with another one, that'd be great. If the behavious is still the same, then pack it and we'll have a look. I wonder if @Mitsurugi-w would have some free time to have a look?

Qsound games have sound when using the stereo output, but they do not have sound through the JAMMA edge. I will attempt to get another C board.

Are you sure that your vertical board is fitted properly. Gets all the way inside the connectors and looks to be undamaged?

The vertical board appears in good condition at least when inspected visually, and it sits at a right angle to the boards when installed. I have probably installed it near 20 times through the testing process so far. It seems to have a very firm grip.

Question: There is no switch a person needs to make for the audio for Qsound games to go through the edge connector, correct? Regardless of DIP settings or the CPS 1.5 or changing from Qsound to monaural in a games’s on screen settings it should still produce sound over the JAMMA edge connector if a cabinet is set for standard JAMMA, correct?

Trying to get another C board.

Trying to get another C board.
I did my initial testing/setup with a SF2CE B21 C-board (which isn't recommended because it will not accept a new key value)...
My point being if you simply have another C-board (ANY C-board) you could use it to test only the games configured for that key, and like in my case these games should work.

Currently all non CPS 1.5 games are working with sound through the JAMMA edge. So the SF2 series, G&G, Strider, Mercs, Nemo, Willow etc. are playing ok.

Issues:
1) No Musclebomber or Slammaster variant games will load, they show an address error or a blank screen.
2) Other CPS 1.5 games, like Punisher and C&D will play and have audio over the stereo connections, but they do not have sound through the JAMMA edge when playing a game that way.

Hey there, can you try another non Q-Sound game which needs key-writing?
Yo could try for example knight of the rounds, three wonders, captain commando.

When trying cps1.5 games please try with all dips off. Also it doesn't matter if monaural or stereo option is enabled by service menu, you should get audio from rca and jamma as well whatever settings.

The switch in the multi near your c-board is on?

I've noticed something with the cps1.5 volume pot and want to corroborate with others/ user feedback. The first half ( let's say from 0 to 5 ) of the volume pot dialed in doesnt do anything. Dialing in from 5 to 10 ( second half ) of the volume pot brings volume.
Any owner is having same behaviour with this? Is it normal?

Have just rechecked:
Switch is set to on (pushed down so it is closest to the LCD cable connector)
Turned off all the DIPs to 0 position

Just tested these now:
KOTR, Captain Commando and Three Wonders load up and plays with sound over JAMMA edge

Mine acts this way also

Mine does this as well. When it's at 10, it's still not as loud as sound over JAMMA so I have to bump up my speaker volume a bit.
