ATAPI/IDE ODE Testing

I'm ready to buy one once it's ready, and heck I'll test things out if needed

Man, a lot has changed here since I checked last. I'm having a hard time parsing through the thread. Is there ANY ODE that is confirmed to work for single games available at the moment? I'm on my 3rd DVD drive and sick of tracking down compatible hardware

I currently have 2 of the old ones - not really liking the idea of buying new ones for the HDD support
The talk before was that the first one could be updated with a firmware update - I guess that is no longer the case

you missed this:
I do intend to try and backport the hard disk support to the old version of the PCB, I haven't yet confirmed if it'll work or not

Considering no one else has tried to make an ode that does what his new one will kinda shoes how niche the need must be. Unfortunately you pay for that kind of R&D. If his first design was created with the specific intention of supporting all 246 games and never did then I might be a bit unamused. The fact he will try to backport his code is a big bonus.

it wasn't. the first design was intended for Konami 573 use, specifically for rhythm games on that platform like DDR.

It was the community here that encouraged him to expand the functionality to include 2x6 use but even then it was clear from the start that it was disc only despite many people expressing desire for hdd support.

I'm interested in one, don't care if HDD is compatible or not as I worked out a solution with a CF reader for HDD games. The Toshiba DVD-Rom on my 246B is starting to show signs of failure, this is my second one so far. I'm pretty sure we are the ones buying all of the compatible IDE DVD-Rom drives on ebay lol
