What's new
Also to be hones I am a bit puzzled about this "waiting until it is fixed" thing. I mean... either it is a software solution then it can be used by new adopters just like it can be by us first timers.
And if it is a hardware solution.... well I guess then it is either an easy fix or I know 200 very pissed people.

Sure... better 200 pissed people than 400..... I dont like where this train of thought leads ;(
If it's a hardware issue, no one's going to be pissed off. There was a rare bug on the first batch of the CPS2 multi (which I bought) that needed to be fixed with a hardware solution, and DS/Mitsu fixed it free of charge. Easy peasy.

While this is just a guess, I suspect that one neo geo multi cart maker is motivated by profit, and the other neo geo multi cart maker is motivated by the love of classic arcade games...

And to me that is a HUGE difference in my book.

And it's needless to say which one I support.

:D

@Locutus73
It's nice to see your honesty. ( but i am abit bias to DS as i have a cart )

I can't say anything about the NSD as i haven't got one ( yet ). DenTarr would be best guy as sounds like he has both. Not sure whats happening the other side as when tech help was on NG.com i stayed away.

IFAIK a quick flash from a list ( like snes carts ) MAY not happen due to the Neo Geo cart hardware setup ( tech heads please step in )

Of course a 100% Neo Geo Multi cart is the end goal ( for all gamers ) except what i've been told i feel the DS cart work very close ( never had a problem the Nvram didn't fix ) i have not tried every game yet but intend to try all the games over time

I total agree in Darksoft reasons for holding back untill fixes are tested and sorted, i'm more than happy to test - retest games setup for anyone if the end goal gets to 100% for all the Neo Geo gamers.you may see it as i've payed to be a beta tester, but i feel i've got 99% of Neo Geo games working on one cart without any big updates ( at this point ) which i'm sure will come ( only 2 games left with faults i've been told )

Darksoft could have just sold more DSMulti carts but the fact he held back shows he's investing time into solving problems not making easy profit, to which i applaud him.

I understand i'm lucky with my 2 slot Neo cab setup.

I hope you sort your Neo Geo setup soon, just think of all that Neo time your missing.

I highly doubt anybody is in this niche market for profit.
If you want profit you build 3ds flashcarts or stuff like that.

I mean.. DS sold 200 pieces of the MVS. And I guess the NeoSD guys will be in the same order of magnitude. Considering development time, prototyping, shipping, assembly, production costs, support...
with that amount of produced units this is no cash cow for anybody.

Either you are in it because you like it and want to share with fellow enthusiasts or make something else.

@DenTarr is right, just do the math.

Neo Geo Multi = $540 USD
200 Units in 1st Batch
Gross: $108,000

2nd batch will likely be half as many units (100). Each subsequent batch will be less in number. Then take out the cost of the forum. The cost of R&D. The COGS. The cost of distribution. The cost of support. Then there is the equitable split with the all partners involved. There is thin margin in this hobby for devs, that is why there are so few of them.

Someday, we'll look back at this polarizing squabble like we did when we were kids making fun of others for having a Master System and not an NES and realize how fortunate we were.

Ok guess I got my answer then.
The official answer is we don't know yet. 2nd batch will be out once all issues are resolved. Might be a small revision made to the pcb. We would rather not have to potentially service two batches for a small update.
Here's hoping it's just an FPGA update needed instead of component replacement. Any ETA on when we might know for sure?

Well now that DS and the team are hard at work fixing the issues one by one as we can see from the post before this one, once these carts are fully up and running like the rest of the DS multis, I believe that he's going to sell at least 200 in the 2nd batch and beyond. I think it would be a mistake to order less.

One of the major differences in this multi and the other DS multi's is the cheap availability and huge game library of the motherboards.

I look at it like building a classic car. Once Darksoft gets it running and tuned up good, then he'll paint and trick it out...and it's gonna be bad ass!

And for the record, I have no ill will toward the NeoSD or any other maker of classic game items. I bet most of the members here feel the same way. I'm just a Darksoft kind of gamer, that is all. And if there were no DS multi, then I would have a NeoSD for sure. But it's always nice to have a choice!

The update needed to fix the cart with MV1F and MV1FS has been finally posted. It's very simple one and I'm sure most people will be able to do it themselves if they so wish. Please see here:

Fix for the MV1F and MV1FS and power glitch issue
Cool :)

But which issues will it fix exactly? Only crash problem I experienced is a crash now and then with KOF98. And crash issues when switching banks. Will that help there, too?
(Because I never had troubles with it on my MV1f. Only tested it shortly though)

hmmm ok...

It fixes the issues where you had frequent reboots and crashes on MV1F and MV1FS. To solve it you needed to lower the voltage from 5V to 4.7V. This avoids having to tweak the voltage level.

There are still 2 games with problems due to protection which are Pulstar and KOF98. That's a different issue to be solved with next firm update.

Just wanted to say that my statement was not aimed against you. I am just a bit over-sensitive to all forms of fanboyism.
There is just quite a bit of bias against the NeoSD cart I dont understand. Compared to Darksofts Multi it has disadvantages (Flash time is REALLY SLOW. And it is flash tech so has limited number of erases. And support is nowhere near what DS offers) but also advantages (remove the SD and it perfectly emulates the original cart with 100% compatibility. And a nice program to create the romset)

So.. yeah.. depending on what you prefer both carts are fine products.

Okay, I always have it a bit below 5V. But Pulstar? Havent had problems there. You mean this "flashing in Attract"?

Seems Ill pass on this fix for now for lack of problems with this issue. But always good to see fixes :)

Hello: Are the new preorders for AES or for MVS? I'm waiting for the AES version. Thank you!
