I did not, but thanks for bring it to my attention.
I was using that method through trial and error. It works often, but about 30% of the time the MVS doesn't reboot and remains stuck on a black screen after the Multi messages (15m waiting but doesnt load). I did not check if the graphical glitches are less intense on slot 2/4, so perhaps thats already the solution to my main problem. I don't mind the "crash" chance.
However I'll dig through this thread to make sure Im not making obvious mistakes that I couldve avoided by just reading. Ill check my harness output as soon as the opportunity arrises
Small update. I haven't done extensive testing because the home situation is chaos, however I atleast got the following for the MVS4FT:
Harness output measured at 4.9V.
The multiMVS works in slot 1 almost 100% of the time, however results in (minor) horizontal graphical glitches among multiple games.
The multiMVS works in slot 4 about 30% of the time (3/10), however if I manage to get it to load it does not have these horizontal graphical glitches. It does have the following though:
- Some specific fragments of songs don't play or play several seconds later than normal. This seems to be mostly limited to intro's, demo's and endings. A non-problem that is solved by switching slots.
- "Randomized" demo's or arcade ladders don't work and result in the same characters / string every time. (to be honest the only thing I'm bummed about)
- I had a single random crash in Garou (out of about 3-4 hours playtime) with Freeman vs Benet.
The booting chance of multiMVS in slot 2 is quite low (1/10) so I stopped trying. It did not work for me so far in Slot 3.
Upon swapping slots, if the multiMVS fails to load I either get a black screen, or it gets stuck on the "reading game filesystem" message. If I recall correctly because the phone with the pictures just died. I'll re-verify the exact message this evening.
If it is successful, the multiMVS states "reading game filesystem" -> "Failed to load game filesystem" after which it loads the games and will continue to function until I turn off the cabinet.
Running diagnostics sometimes gives me a FAIL at "Filesystem". Sometimes, because it seems to be random whether it succeeds or not. Will play games even when stating FAIL.
The multiMVS has a significant freeze chance upon entering the Game list while in slot 4. Music will continue playing, but the entire menu will just freeze and remain non-functional.
I can use the hotkeys to swap games on the multiMVS, however the hotkey for returning to the menu doesn't seem to work and just resets the multiMVS back to slot 1.
I've checked the above with the following: Garou, Real bout Special & 2, Last Blade 2, King of Fighters 98, Pulstar, Blazing Star, Windjammers, Bubble Bobble, Metal Slug 3, Magician Lord, Crossed Swords, Nightmare after Dark, Waku Waku 7, ShockTroopers 2.
Garou is giving me the most problems, while games like Pulstar, Windjammers or Magician Lord give me no issues whatsoever.
I have limited soldering skills so re-capping/re-flowing the board isn't an option for me aside from replacing the battery. It however works perfectly fine on normal carts.
I can check whether it helps that I re-format the microSD that is currently in the cart, however looking at the rest of the thread it seems that this seems to be a 4/6-slot or multi-pcb problem?
