Derick your welcome to get a Vewlix-C review thread started, once I've got the proper time I'll join in.

This weekend the wife and I are going to Atlantic City... So it will be next weekend (pending) at the earliest.

Nice, enjoy the trip, I am in Fl with the fam, and I have other projects and things going on, but i will try to get something started.

look what just popped up on KC's ebay page: http://www.ebay.com/itm/arcade-game...012699?hash=item2ca8877d1b:g:9uwAAOSwKtVWwBkI

8o sooo wish I had the room for one of these.
I got to try out that cab last April in Akihabara :) I wonder if he will eventually get the gundam "cocoon" or whatever it is (some egg-like looking cockpit with some massive screen - like a 180 FOV. I took some vids while in it).

And FYI - No one seems to play any shmups over there. Everyone was playing this multiplayer/online gundam game. I was literally the only person playing the old cabs and any shmups (and my fiance was playing SMB on some astro :) ).

Questions - I was researching how to put a PC in the Vewlix.. and I found the link bellow.. Is that the only JVS-PAC available? are there better alternatives? thanks
http://jvspac.kirurg.org
I looked at using the JVS-PAC for one of my projects and I was unimpressed, it's just a keyboard emulator and the keys are all hard-coded to the MAME defaults (which sucks since player 1 is mapped to alt, ctrl and shift buttons which causes all kinds of problems). it also has no analog support.

it's a nice idea but a very poor implementation. IMO you're better off using one of the many other options that by-passes your JVS I/O completely, if you get the right connectors you could make it plug and play with your control panel anyway. My new favorite I/O setup is the "KADE stick". it's cheap, open source, uses pinheaders instead of stupid screw terminals, supports analog inputs and even offers you the option of keyboard or joystick emulation. so far it ticks all the right boxes for me.

For PC control I'm using a Madcatz 360 WWF Brawl stick PCB (Windows10 sees it perfectly as DirectX input device) connected directly to the buttons/sticks and USB cord snaked down the coin assembly.

My local Gamestop closed these out at 20$ a pop

Video/sound I'm using a DVI to VGA adapter cable with integrated 3.5mm audio to reduce the amount of cords running around inside.

@twistedsymphony than you for the info on the KADE

@Jassin - "DVI to VGA adapter." I was thinking on using an AlienWare Alpha which only has HDMI output. I guess the FC does not have HDMI into the monitor. HDFury might be a solution. I have tried the cheap HDMI to VGA out there but they are not as good. For the stick part, the Universal Fighting Board might be better.

No HDMI that is true... According to the manual the LCD has got DVI input.

I haven't verified this yet, because I haven't removed that back center panel above.
If it's full DVI support, then you can just use a HDMI to DVI-D adapter.

Yyou'll really want to use native VGA if you want the lowest lag. Even with LCDs its a faster since it streams a line at a time instead of a whole frame at a time and there's no encryption/decryption

Jassin - thanks for the info.. now we need to find out if it's full DVI support because that HDMI to DVI-D adapter would be the way to go and playing SFV PC version on the cab would be cool. I committed to getting and FC over the weekend after KC took some more pictures of the actual unit and a phone conversation and will send full payment tomorrow. MagFest is this week so I am good with getting the unit sometime next week since I will be at MagFest with the family this week:)

Awesome, glad you are getting an FC. It really is a beautiful cab. Also, see if you can get an autograph from Keiji Inafune at MagFest.

I wanted to keep this thread mostly about the purchase and shipping details for future reference.

I intend to do a proper write up just about the cab features/quality/etc at some point.
I've been pretty busy lately, but its coming! :)

I've also been buying up parts, I ordered a 2L14B panel (its currently in transit) a Taito official JAMMA IO (its currently in transit), a set of five 19mm-X-30mm tubular locks (I hope these fit correctly) and finally a set of nylon clear/transparent M4 screw/bolts for the Plexiglas marquee.
Congratulations on the cabinet! The Vewlix C looks awesome. Where did you source the 2L14B control panel?

@Jassin "19mm-X-30mm tubular locks" sorry that is this for?
" clear/transparent M4 screw/bolts" where did you get it from?
"Where did you source the 2L14B control panel?" and how much do they cost? I do not think that I need it now but I have a feeling that down the road I might.

The tubular locks ended up being the wrong size so I sent them back.
I ordered another shorter set to try out next, I will post my results.
My cab came without locks, so I'm ordering locks for it.

The clear screws came from a vendor on Amazon, I have yet to receive them.
I had to order a package of 25, so I will have extras for free (you pay shipping).

The control panel comes from Shadaloo.eu, I don't know how the quality will be just yet.
I will again keep everyone posted once I've received it.

I finally repaired the shipping damage to my leg leveler today.

Nice fix, its looking real good.

The original taito 2P F control panel is impossible to get. Taito is not producing or selling these any longer.
If you are lucky to find one, just grab it, those red 2p panels were only sold in like 1% of the cabs.
I am still looking/hoping to find one in the wild. I actually reached out to the guys at Shadaloo an see if they can make me repro panel than more closely matches the original, waiting to hear back.

Jasssin, were did you source the Taito Jamma to JVS board?

KC actually ordered me the JAMMA IO back when I got the cab... I'm still waiting to get it, I believe its dew tomorrow.

When it comes, it should be this full kit. If you notice it even includes a 15khz > 31khz JAMMA scaler board with pre-sets for different boards.

While I'm posting PDF's, this is the main cab manual.

"The tubular locks ended up being the wrong size so I sent them back"
Let me know which one works because I am in the same position as you, my cab does not bring the locks.

"I had to order a package of 25, so I will have extras for free (you pay shipping)"
please sign me up for 8. I wander if they will fit the Egreets II as well.

Here is the cab that will be shipped to me.. paid in full. Performed a FaceTime with KC to see the last two remaining cab. Had KC removed the plastics and show me the cabs as they were. I could understand him fine, maybe because English is my second language and I am accustom to all kinds of accents:)

about my cab.. in the right hand side leg there is a scratch but I can deal with that.. The total was $2,800 shipped.. The last cab, I would not recommend to anyone.. It has an scratch on the top left hand side and close to the feet there is some rust.. maybe they are easy fix but why deal with that. Maybe wait for the other units that KC will be getting in 6-8 weeks, He mentioned that he will be getting 4 units. Now fingers crossed so the shipping company will not messed up the cab.

From dealing with KC, my recommendation - ask for picuters of the actual cabs that are in stock, pick the one you want and follow up by FaceTime to actually see the unit or all the units available and pick the one you want.. The best option if you can not see the cab in person, if you have a friend in LA ask that person to inspect the cab for you but we are not all that lucky:(.

thanks Jassin for the tread and I am looking forward to seeing the new toy:)
