What's new
My fancy smart power strip says my Noir draws 160w at idle with no game. There's no surge on start like a CRT cabinet. Most transformers are rated for peak and not sustained use so I think somewhere around 500w is reasonable. It would be best to double check the sustained draw rating if it has one though. FWIW, I use 500w ones on my CRT cabs.

I run my Noir on a 130 watt transformer with no issues, but my monitor is swapped out for a modern 20 Watt LCD, My CRT has a 100 watt transformer with no problems, I like my transformers small.

I bought them for a recording studio project and we went with a different set up in the end.

Maybe its better for me to just get a chassis stepdown & convert it to 240?

This is @notsonic picture from the teardowen thread & there looks like enough room any chance I could get some more pics of the back plate area ?

And what do you guys do for powering pc's ect do you have a power strip tapped off?

For power inside the cabinet there's a hard wired C13 power cable (like a normal atx computer power supply cable). You could get an adapter to then plug a power strip into it if you need more outlets.

I can try to pull one of my cabinets out and get more pics of the power area sometime today or tomorrow.

I feel like it would just be easier to keep it at 100v, but that's not something I've ever really had to worry about. Also fwiw, the giant transformer in the cabinet is 1:1.

Here's some pics of the power area. It's pretty much just the power switch, fuse/breaker, and ground distribution. Since the transformer is 1:1 you probably could replace it with a 240 to 100. It's just hot, neutral, and ground/earth in and out.

Low & behold I had a Deadstorm pirates SDX cab on my run up at work for next week (I mostly fix gambling stuff but we have the odd video here & there) & got to take a few pics of the power area Namco like to use those isolation transformers don't they.

And I also gave the Namco 357 (industrial PS3) a good strip down & dust out after this picture was taken.

Some of the Noirs come with a transformer that has has a tapping for 240/100, not mine though.

Prob one that came from a 220-240v Asian region like H/K..

My Sega Versus city had the factory stepdown & had the topper livery in English.

This is what Namco put in the Deadstorm Pirates cab:

@muckyfingers helped me replace 2/3 my noir monitors. He utilized gorilla tape and this monitor for both cabs. I am very happy with the results.

Wow, those look wonderful!

I wired up the Banapassport reader with just 12v power and ground to see what would happen. While it does power on, it will just cycle through the 3 LED colors (red, blue, green) over and over. Presumably this is to let you know it’s not communicating properly with anything.

Since I have a Red Noir, I’ll probably just wire in some new, always on red LEDs.
Which pins power this up please, can you remember ?

Thanks

Thanks

And so it starts...
