What's new
Also do any of you guys have experience replacing the speakers on the back seat? Mine sound fine, but I can already feel they'll need to be replaced sometime in the future, they have a very clear buzzing noise when the game is at a more quiet spot. Also what kind of speakers would I need?
Buzzing when there's little sound will be signal noise rather than an issue with the speakers themselves, you sure it's not interference from the VGA signal? Does it get louder on a bright white screen? Not really much you can do to avoid this it should just be a very quiet buzz. There's a pot behind a hex screw under the seat to the right on JP cabs that adjusts the rear speaker volume. not sure where that is on US cabs.

Rear speaker volume is behind the coin slots in the American cab. But something odd is that I feel the right seat speaker has a worse buzz then the left one, not by much though. While the two front speakers on the monitor don't really have any buzzing at all. I can record it later and post it here so you guys can judge it.

Here's the video of me running the speakers, the camera didn't pick it up too well. But what I started noticing other then the buzzing is this weird noise that mostly the right speaker is making, you can hear it near the end of the video when it's more quiet. But it almost sounds like something is loose or rattling around in there.

It is very possible the cone or speaker surround has come loose - take it out of there and look to see if the cone is good and if the surround is solid. Speakers deteriorate over time.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, that's why I'm probably just gonna replace it. Make it nice and fresh, poor things need rest.

Well - I never tried it as I didn't think that a possibility. That would be pretty cool if true....
Found this old thread and this guy claims that it's possible but doesn't remember the configuration.

Namco N2 lasted surprisingly long without many issues, but we all know that couldn't last long. Cause last night upon Turning the cabinet on I started getting a quiet beeping sound from the N2, it also wouldn't start the game, just stayed on the "No signal" screen. Turning it off and on again did the trick however and it started to turn on again normally, but the longer I played the slower it started to run. To the point I got into one race and it felt like it was running in slow motion, Shortly after that I turned it off and cried myself to sleep. Tried it again this morning and it turned on just fine on the first try, and was working fine for the 2ish hours I tried it for, so honestly I'm not even sure what I should change at this point.

Tried it another session and it work just fine again, honestly maybe it was just a fluke? 🤷 Will definitely keep a close eye on it though.

@antonioad14(TWON) Did you say you recapped the motherboard? The one I have been running for over a year just died - so I am going to recap the motherboard, a few of the caps looks suspect. But wanted to see if you had a list of all the caps, or a kit you got from somewhere - that will save me a bit of time.

Thanks,

Matt

Sorry to hear that, The motherboard I currently have was recapped by arcade spare parts. What are the symptoms your N2 started getting? You could try replacing the ram, in my experience 2 of them already died on me out of nowhere.

it just stopped turning on all of a sudden - and there are 4 caps that are def bulging - so I am pretty darn sure that's the culprit... :) Ok - no worries, I will remove the ones that are visibly bad and order replacements!

I'd definitely replace those bulging caps, you can just look at what type it is and order the same ones on Amazon or someplace like that. Although does all the fans still spin? Cause if it's not getting any power at all it could be a power supply issue.

Been noticing something off about my WMMT Cab, the brake is being a bit weird. Sometimes when I tap it and let go it'll act like I did a full press even when still letting go. I'll usually have to do another full press with the brake to reset it and put it back to normal. Does anyone know why it's doing this? I noticed the pedals were a bit dirty so I removed the dust and shot some compressed air at it and it didn't seem to really help much.

Sounds to me like you need to put some deoxit in the potentiometers and make sure they are clean and not sticking.

I replaced all the caps on my motherboard successfully - but it still wasn't showing any video when I booted.... I then pulled out a working video card from another system, and she's alive again!

I looked at the video card, and there is a suspect capacitor on it - so will replace that, and then hoping that is it!
