DARKSOFT New Namco System 2 Multi

Can someone please confirm the value of capacitors C53 and C54? IMG_2464.jpeg

based on the motherboard i used (the one who have JP18 on it … i mentioned in some previous replies) i did the Namco System 2 cap list :

I was referencing your capacitor list and I believe capacitor C53 is incorrect on your list. When I was removing C53 I could’ve swore it was a 1uf 50v and Robert verified it. You have 10uf 16v. Also your list didn't mention C2 and C3 are 0.47uf Bi Polar capacitors. Other than that, good job and thank you.

Thanks , for pointing , i’ll check again and if is
wrong what ive mentioned , i will make the modifications in that google excel sheet 👍🏻 (wrote this comment last night but i forgot to push on post reply 🤦🏻‍♂️)

ps :

- is a mistake by myside on C2 & C3 - indeed they are BP (bi-polar) 0.47uf 50V, but i triple checked and on C53 is 10uf 16V on my motherboard (model : 8618961805 variant)

- i modified & updated like it should from the first time when i did it (i was to noob back then to consider that "BP" is meaning something - sorry) :

« diode with a Vf <= 0.4V » what does it means ? The Vf should equal or less than 0.4V ?

@ekorz bros , can be done some hex moddificiations to have the text writen from right to the left ?

exemple :

- now is in this format :

I thought the diode allowed current one way and not the other way and that was all that was important?
Would that explain why Phelios and mirai ninja and not loading / freezing?

Yes like @Darksoft said it’s probably possible but it’s a lot of work. The game draws the text top to bottom and right to left, so someone would have to adjust that code and make sure it functioned in all dialogue situations. The original mod was just replacing the gfx references so there’s no existing work to leverage.

It works fine enough for me so I’m not interested in doing it, but it could be a fun project for someone else.

We're very lucky to have this version already. Kudos for you .

Just a thought: Would it be possible to cross reference and examine the way Namco Museum Volume 5 (PSX) handles the English translation? Maybe the ROM contents there on how it draws English text could be applied onto the original ROM.

psx stuff runs on a different processor, so someone would need knowledge of that one (mips i think) and 68k (arcade) to make use of that version. if it's emulated on the psx and the raw 68k binary is somewhere there, which is totally possible, then the data would be more easily useful. either way there is still plenty of work to do unless for some reason the psx version uses an emulated rom, and that rom boots on arcade hardware without any other changes (doubtful).

it really shouldn't be too hard, I just look at it and think it could be a lot of actual work. There's a world where you can adjust a few values and it all works 100%, and there's another world where you have to check and adjust every single speech bubble by hand.

I have some graphics errors on the original game. I will first clean up the board with isopropanol
