What's new
I found the little red caps on aliexpress.
Sorry don't know how to do a link on the aliexpress app.
looks like these https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005001980361579.html

0.03$ and 9.22$ of shipping.
Nice.

so it is that one that leaked?

thanks!

edit: having fixed a Moonwalker recently with this ... moonwalker parts board, I checked to see if by any chance these caps would be in there as well ... and bingo, they are everywhere!

One of the F245 had broken legs ( can you guess which one?) so digikey to the rescue.

Another melted leg that I could do nothing to save but the parts board has 2 of these left on it!

and checking again around, I see that these "caps" are tiny timebombs everywhere :( ( yeah I'll change and clean that one too)

Hi,
I striped out 95% of all of those little red caps and a load of resistors that looked bad as well.
Did you order any from aliexpress?

Cheers Justin

How's everyone getting along with repairs? I plan to get my cabinet back together over the Easter break. I've not looked at my original board again since Christmas :( Kinda given up on it TBH....

I got interrupted by my egret 29 ... which is almost done so I will also go back to this during Easter!

Well after all the work I put into my Thunder Blade I currently have sync and a black screen. So I'm thinking the video dac or video ram.
I have a replacement video DAC thanks to Caius.

Unfortunately I didn't have time for my project in the meantime.
I am looking forward to continuing again :)

set dip B to what was on working After burner (2 + 6 ON) and

but no more then that.
guess I'll see if the MEM test roms can run and help

so using 27c1001 instead of 27c1000 ( or 27c301 ) doesn't appear to work. @twistedsymphony should they be? what am I doing wrong?
this is a 17 page thread that I'm seeing for the first time so I'm missing some context here.

but looking at the MAME driver for Super Monaco GP they're noted as "27c1000" I'm also seeing that Afterburner has a different graphics PAL at IC127 than SMGP

one way you can tell the difference between the ROMs is to probe around Pin 2 and Pin 24 from socket to socket.
this is 32bit so the output enable (OE) will be tied together in groups of 4 but the A16 address should be tied across all of the chips
if they're 27c1000 then pin 24 will be A16 and pin 2 will be OE, and if they're 27c1001 then it will be the opposite.

These boards eh?! I still haven't got around to finishing mine, the board etc was all working, by the time I get back to it something will have broken again!

update: Test roms received from Steph @ hobbyroms since I didn't have these oddballs roms ...
and the results are in

IC61, 22 and 23 are 3 times "TMM2063AP-12"
and the PAL MSB is IC75, so a TC51832SPL-10

My parts moonwalker board has the TC51832SPL-10 (actually -12) and one TMM2063AP-12 ...
Will change them and rerun the test and report back.

I've found with 32-bit boards you really want -10 or faster EPROM. I ran into issues with Jaleco Mega System 32 conversions not working when using -12 EPROMs

oh, misunderstood, always worth socketing replacements so you're not overcooking the PCB.

The pulled TMM2063AP-12 changed nothing... so I guess it was also bad or I screwed up somewhere.
...more ic ordered

redid the test and

of course. the 2 other TMM2063AP-12 are complaining now :(
