It might be a good idea to document the issues with each cab and include it's serial number when presenting it to Yaton.

can any monitor fit in a windy2 if its same size or not really as it depends on neck size.

When the psus fixed it depends if my monitor is bad or not if ill through a different crt in it.

what about all the cabs that went to Canada I'm interested in their condition.

Yeah, there's simply no way if we're at 3 dead PSU's that the E2s were tested at all. One failed in 20ish, maybe? Three just in transportation? No way.

I don't agree on the price being good for what they are, at least on the E2's (and the Windy I've seen is.. Worse.). And that's fine. I'm from SoCal and my prices frequently don't matter, ha. It's just my take. Nothing against XeD.

I ended up taking theoddtech's E2 when he was going to have to back out. I'll be happy to have another E2 in the end, but I'd have been hesitant to buy it under other circumstances at that price in this condition. If I had to have it shipped I'd definitely be upset because it's not a 1600+ cab under any circumstance. It'll clean up nice in the end I'm sure, but it'll be an effort and money and I have another six projects before it.

FWIW I feel like I stole the Q25 though. It could have cost 4x as much and I'd still have bought it. I'm so unbelievably happy to have finally obtained it. And for it to be so cheap is amazing. Even if some parts do need work.

Agree. So who will be performing full restore jobs? repaint, etc..
Me! I'm going to get the metal repainted and rechrome the Q25 and Aero Table at the same time.

Probably redo the E2s too.

Also, I already have the rotation mech wood panel dimensions. Remind me after tomorrow and I'll find it on my server. I need to get 30-40 of these cut anyway.

nothing here frightens me except the mold. I don’t want to take this inside my home and have my kid play with it until that’s solved. I’ve never dealt with it in a cab before... If someone can post a good de-molding guide I’d appreciate it a whole lot.

Only three pieces of wood in the cab thankfully.

One is the rotation mech base, but the other two are the back door and the PCB holder, so it'll be easy for those two. The other is completely doable too without removing the monitor.

Just need someone to identify what to use to clean it.

bleach or clorox. With some simple green but if never used that combo on wood

Scrub the surface mold stains from walls and wood trim with a mixture of 1 qt. water and 1/2 cup bleach mold cleaner to kill the mold. Use a soft brush and work until signs of the molddisappear. After scrubbing the surfaces, simply allow the bleach solution to continue to penetrate the surfaces and dry.

Nice. I would be 100% on board with ripping those out entirely if that’s an option. I can get new wood, that’s simpler in my head than trying anything else. I’ll be taking everything apart anyway to clean and recap etc.

Any mold spotted on the Windy or NNC cabs so far?

I'd think the internals of the Windy should clean up OK considering it's basically an all plastic cab.

With the E2 I figured I'd throw away and recut the PCB holder if there's mold, forgot about the rotate mech having a wood component. Definitely will have to check that out right away and may have to stage/clean up the cab thoroughly in the garage before bringing it inside the house.

check your cabs for marquees. My windy2 and e2 had them in the bottom of cab.

There was no mold on the back doors of the E2s I took. I didn't read this or think about the mech until after I'd already put them in storage. I'll check in a few days but I'm sure the NorCal guys can chime in on that before I get to it.

I didn't see any in the Windy at all.

The mold is also my biggest concern, I feel like that was a necessary detail to have received from the shipper. Some things can be left out; I expected chopped wires or loose screws, trash in the cab or some rust, drink spills, monitors needing work, something like that, but not the mold.

Our Windy II was taken back outside and we've started scrubbing it down with a bleach cleaner. When everything is done, we will be very happy with it either way, the exterior is

I keep getting distracted so I'll post more later

Woof, will definitely be waiting on your updates.

Also, once 300wins is sold out of e2 psus, I may have some spares, I’ll have to check later.

For the bezel to fit properly you need to also get the right tube curvature. The Windy 2 is the same curvature as the Blast, for better or worse.

The rotate mech wood looks fine from what I can tell. When I take my necked tube out, I'll look for any signs on it. Going to pick up some mold killer / bleach soon.

My NNC has what I think is mold on the PCB mount plate. That is the only wood in the whole cab.
Just need someone to identify what to use to clean it.
I use this stuff and will be bringing a spray bottle's worth with me tomorrow to hit up the E2 and Windy II that are still at my buddy's business. Along with that:
  • Respirator w/organic filter
  • Simple Green
  • Glass cleaner
  • Waffleboard cloth
  • Lots of rags
  • Knee pads (yup yup, it's going to be a long day)
  • Paint thinner to see if the yellowing touch-up spots can be removed.
    • Want to see the damage that is underneath
  • Tools of the trade like DMM, drivers, wrenches, crimps, something to discharge the monitors, etc.

Me!! I was thinking of using automotive pearl white :D. We'll see though. Will definitely hit it with some clear coat. I am going to fashion a spray booth using cheap plastic drop cloth and PVC pipe. Won't be using a shaker can that's for sure. My buddy's business has a compressor that powers everything at his business. Should be good enough for HVLP. Need warmer weather though.

Also, my buddy told me his printers can do metallic ink. Can someone point me to the art for these cabs? Hopefully, the are in vector format.
