BSIDE ESR02 PRO- cheap tool recommendation

It really opened my eyes. I had thought that regular, good quality brand name caps (like Nichicon or Panasonic) have at least as good ESR as something that has been in use for 20 or 25 years in a power supply circuit. Same capacitance, equal voltage rating or higher, that's all you need?

Wrong. Over the years I've actually put worse caps in than I have taken out. Oops.

Remember to replace with low ESR caps as they're switched-mode PSUs.
Industry typically refers to these as low impedance, high frequency, long life for their series. Some will actually say "For switching PSUs". You can also cross reference the existing caps to get the newer series equivalents as well.

Personally, most of these cabs being 20+ yrs old, PSUs and amps, I replace everything as OPs rarely did this. I also use dial calipers to get equivalent package sizes and lead widths.

With sound amps, I also check Cap series, as good designs use better quality audio capacitors.

May sound silly, but its just my method. Some just grab all ESRs and go, sometimes getting the wrong package sizes...

Humbug, I wish I had known he still had two cabs when I made my offer.

First link is not a Q25 coin box. "Front Drawer" is the Q25 coin box.

Surprise, you don't actually need any keys to pull part a Madonna, which is nice. Didn't have to wait for the lock pick from China.

I'm really liking the look of these cabs. I was initially thinking I might just sell the three to get some funds to work on the MAS cabs, but I'm having second thoughts.

Not to say that these would have been an easy sell. Here's what I was greeted with when opening the CP enclosure:

The actual CP is surprisingly nice. Shame that some dolt had to punch a fourth button hole in the panel.

Working on trying to get caps for this psu, and navigating digikey is cumbersome. If anyone makes a shareable parts list in the meantime, let me know. I've only used pre-made kits before, so this is new territory to me.

Also, has anyone else from East Coast gotten their cabinets yet?

can someone tell me what locks and keys are original to windy2 and egret2

@Hatsune Mike, in case you need a local source when you make your PCB. I swooped these up from Anchor Electronics here in San Jose for $1 a bag. They had the 13-postion connector (2pcs/bag) for the Egret II PSU but not the 3 position connector. The 3 position connector's spacing is exactly twice the spacing on the 13-pos connector, so I think I will just pull pins and hack up one of the connectors for the 3 position connector. They have the right angle versions too. Also, swooped up the 6-position JST connector for 15khz connection on the NNC.

Also, HSC Electronics closed up for good this past Saturday.
