What's new
there are screws going directly into the back of the box did you remove those too?
How do you get the speaker boxes out? I've removed my monitor, then I unscrewed the two screws connecting the two brackets to the cab. The speaker box doesn't seem to budge though.

You'll likely need to bend the metal brackets to get them out, that's what I ended up doing. I'm not sure how they are originally put in exactly unless other panels or something are removed. The metal will bend back though after reinstalling and all seemed to be ok for me after that.

Nope, I assumed they were only connected to the speaker box. Ah, I see, looks like those are connected to the sides of the cab? Got it.

Cool, thanks. I didn't realize the brackets were connected under the speaker boxes too. That makes sense though, bend them away from the front of the frame a little? Which direction do the speaker boxes come out from?

There's 3 screws holding in the brackets. To get to the 3rd screw you need to seperate the cabinet into two pieces, which is a huge chore. Just take the two screws off that you can get to and slightly bend the bracket away from the speaker and they should slide out.

I didn't want to brute force, so I separated the front and back of the cabinet to get the speakers out. The brackets are sandwiched between. You don't have to fully separate, just enough to pull the brackets out. It wasn't that bad.

You need a good JIS standard screwdriver to turn the cabinet screws.

I've removed the two available sets of screws, so I'll try bending the brackets and sliding the boxes out. Approximately how far do I have to bend them, 90 degrees? Then the boxes slide out towards the back of the cab? The cables for the marquee light are also tied down to the bracket, so I guess I should untie them first?

If you've never had your cabinet in half you might as well open it up and give everything a deep clean while you rebuild the speakers. Bending the brackets seems like such a bad idea to me.

I had to bend them "all the way" back, like until they were flat with the cabinet, then the speaker boxes slide out with some force. Just leave them bent back until you are ready to replace the boxes. The brackets feel flimsy enough that too much bending back and forth might cause metal fatigue.

I really don't see why they would need to be bent more than once each way... just rebuild them and let them be. And if you're worried about needing to do them in the future buy some spares from Yaton or Kc and stick them in the cab so once you cross that bridge you'll be worry free. I've replaced mine and they bent back to shape just fine without splitting any cabs....with that being said I also didn't bend them all the way back, just far back enough for them to slide out

@nem thanks for the files. Got a friend to print them for me. Speakers are in the mail.

There were yellow (were probably once white) pads in the boxes, what is the purpose of them and can I leave them out or do I need replacements ?

I put those yellow "baffles" back in presuming they help with sound quality.

Anyone ever replace them with soundproof foam?

Looks like I'm going to need a few more of the aurasounds from parts express.... @DRAGONKZ and I got a pair of or2 cabs and 3 of thr 4 speakers are dead unfortunately :(

I think those are fiberglass. I left mine in. They affect the sound. Think of them as part of the speaker box design.

Soundproof material is very dense. I would just leave the yellow things there. But if you are no longer using the original drivers then you might find that adding or removing foam/fiberglass improves the sound. I changed the woofers and tweeters in mine but didn't change anything with the enclosure, including the yellow things, and my speakers sound great.

I hate how ridiculous it is to replace the Speakers in this cab. I removed three screws from one side and do not want to pull the monitor again and split the cab to get them out. So lame and time consuming.

I did mine by reaching in through the back panel and front door and bending the brackets. It sucks. There's basically no easy way.

it's downright the most stupidest design of the any candy I've worked on...

I've heard you can do what @notsonic did, but I've always been worried I will snap the edge of the cab if I try to bend it.

I’ve read your blast restoration thread and man I can sympathize with you. This cab has been nothing but problems for me From the start. It’s my least favorite of any candy I have owned. The corner convergence issue Comes standard. The speaker issue, the ms2931 is a trash chassis I don’t care what anyone says, it’s trash. It’s proven to kill monitors. I installed a ms2934 it looks pretty good after a cap kit. I’m trying to get the convergence issue sorted this week but I’m gonna need like 20 convergence stripes to do it. That’s a Joke btw but so far 4 isn’t enough. This things corner convergence is utter crap and every blast monitor was made this way. Horrible flaw. I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time wondering why my pd1843, ms8 and ms9 look so much better. it’s not the tube btw it’s bright looks pretty good but my astros and NNC are just better. At the end of the day it’s still a nice cab. I just have hang ups with it compared to the other ones I have owned. Just like you I’ve had a few last straw moments but have kept trucking along to make things happen. I have 4 different chassis now for it and the ms2934 looks the best. I will buy as many non working/working ones at this point for flybacks and parts. Anyway rant over.
