What's new
Has anyone tried upgrading the cpu with a non sandy bridge after the bios upgrade, I've put an i7 2600 in mine but the performance increase was very slight, would extra cooling make any difference

You'll see far better performance increases by replacing the GPU. Hell you're better off replacing the entire lot with anything not 10+ years old.

Yeah I know just I've added ps1 based hardware to the multi using mame and there are a couple of games that are struggling to run at full speed

As far as I know that’s all that works in there.

Yep, the i7 2600 is as good as it gets on the CPU side. Extra cooling won't make a difference.

+1 for GPU upgrading instead.

The fastest CPU that I have had success with is the Xeon E3-1290 (3.6ghz). But yeah, a GPU upgrade would be better overall.

I've got this 1050ti laying around that im gonna attempt swapping in. Tekken 7 doesnt look so hot on a GTX 660.

So, using the MOBO BIOS update, the card dropped right in and booted up. Looks like everythings working 💪

Do I need to download more drivers? Or are the current ones sufficient for this card?

Hi I have upgraded my TTX3 with a Xeon E3-1290 but the TTX3 doesnt boot. there's no beep when it starts and the tv remains at no signal. swapping the original i5 2400 back works fine.
Is the Xeon faulty or not compatible with my TTX3 motherboard?

does this mean the e3 1290 cpu is faulty? i have messaged the seller on ebay and see what he says.

I have upgraded three X3 with the E3-1290 v1 and haven't ran into a problem. Maybe your CPU is faulty. Who knows. Hopefully you get your problem resolved.
Though upgrading the GPU is actually more important than upgrading the CPU to be honest.

I’m interested to see how a E3-1390 v1 runs versus the i7-2600k I’ve got in the ttx3 I’m running in my diamond blue vewlix at the moment .

Over share ahead: I’m running running an asus 3060ti with 32gb of ram and the i7 2600k with a fairly beefy noctua cooler . It sounds like overkill until I mention the hardware was stuff I owned already that was just sitting around not being used. I’m running the 4.1 multi and literally everything runs great. I installed steam and a few games ( TMNT Shredders revenge seemed like a no brainer for this cabinet ). It runs fine but I haven’t figured out how to get controls working properly . I’m using the FastIO and just haven’t spent enough time with it or as a vewlix owner to figure that bit out yet.

Btw the two fan rtx 3060ti I’ve got fits “perfectly” in the ttx3* if you flip the IO pcb upside down that is and put a layer of kapton tape on top of the pcb to prevent from accidental contact with the lid, though there is clearance ( tried to include pictures that highlight what I’m talking about since I’m probably doing a terrible job explaining it as I over share my experience with the ttx3 no one actually asked me for 😂 ).

Btw the video card that I’m running that fits with the IO pcb flipped over is the “ASIS DUAL GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti V2 MINI OC Edition”. As of August 2022 this and literally every other card have gone way down in price. They’re cheaper new as well as used so before you go shelling out hundreds of dollars to someone on FB marketplace be sure you compare the price to new cards . For anyone GPU shopping: if you do buy used be comfortable knowing there’s a good chance the card may have been used for mining, so always ask first before you buy. This 3060 is great but it -is- overkill on the ttx3 and isn’t necessary to have fun playing games on this platform. My stock setup ran everything just fine including SF5 and Cuphead.

Yeah I've got a 1060 6gb in mine is it's way overkill already, but I ended up getting two for really cheap (ended up costing the same as what a 960 cost me per card) so now I have two ttx3s that should be ok for a couple of years.

Cards are a lot cheaper as of today compared to even 3 months ago so overkill is kind of relative. You could run the stuff that the 4.1 multi comes installed with with the stock card, cpu and memory, but since the multi is at It’s roots a windows pc there’s no reason you couldn’t also install Steam and run plenty of games from there as well. While the sandy bridge architecture , ddr3 memory and pci expresss 2.0 will all be bottlenecks you can still get away with a pretty darn good gaming experience with the addition of the beefier video card

I have returned the Xeon E3-1290 v1 to the seller and got a i7-2700K. Runs fine in my TTX3. I have replaced the cpu heatsink with the Thermaltake Toughair 110 and a Noctua NF-F12 Industrial Fan.
I replaced the case fan with a NOCTUA NF-A15 HS-PWM CHROMAX.BLACK.SWAP fan. runs well and I got a near constant 60fps in SFV5 benchmark. About the same with clintcronin setup. I am running a 1060 6GB card in my ttx3. all the thermal paste on both the cpu and 1060 is replaced with Kryonaut. I am quite happy with the performance now.
