What's new
Home Depot isn't going to have much of a selection of metric screws, just FYI.

Thank you, it was embarrassing to publicly admit that - but I'd rather look stupid than have a messed-up cab.
I'm in the same position as you right now. Securing my first cab and ordered a bracket. I watched the video and had the same question, then came here and saw your post. :)

Hey - somebody has to look stupid for the rest of us! ;D

Makes sense now that you say it out loud. Recommended alternatives?

Yeah home depot will have like 5 metric fasteners total lol. Hadouken designed it expanding the holes and sells the bit to do that right?

It doesn't include the drill bit. You'll need to provide your own if you decide to use the m4 screws it comes with.

Lol that's what I'm trying to figure out, either A) what bit i need or B) where to get some screws that don't need to enlarge the hole?

I ran into the same problem when I was setting up my monitor. I ended up using a dollar store drill bit to slightly enlarge the hole and it worked just fine. Just go slowly and stop once the drill bit goes through.
Or..
get the drill bit Hadouken sells or get M3 screws from Amazon, though they'll sell them in a set of different sizes so not sure you need that many varieties of screw lengths

I thought the countersink drill bit he sold on his site was to make the m4 hole but I guess not. Anyhow, m4 is 4mm, so find a bit that is slightly bigger than that.

My advice if you're going to own Japanese arcade gear is to stock up on a small selection of metric screws, they're always going to be handy. I prefer McMaster Carr.

If nothing else a little collection of M3 and M4 is a good thing to have. I'm going to need to restock my supply at some point soon, I'm running a little low on a few things, but this is what I keep on hand for general use:

Pan and truss head, M3 and M4 and M5, regular nuts and acorn nuts and some washers. Along with a metric tap and die. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches with a small investment, it's very handy to have the fastener you need "now" instead of having to order it because it's a metric part you can't source locally easily.

There was no need to expand the holes, just used longer m3 screws with washers instead of m4. Worked perfectly

I guess my last question before I buy screws is, did you use countersunk screws? I assume not since you used a washer?

Thank you so much. I always mess up things like this so I wanted to triple check. I'll grab a set of m3 and m4 screws, etc!

Man isn't this the truth, I'm so sick of having to go to Lowe's/HD for nuts and bolts literally any time I try to do any thing. I need to just stop being lazy and get some containers printed up and get an order in to McMaster-Carr.

Also worth mentioning is a set of JIS screwdrivers; as someone who stripped a whole bunch of screws on my Vewlix, especially the little tiny ones on the monitor frame, which are very easy to strip, I wish I'd had these before I got my cab. Most (all?) of them are JIS screws, which I didn't even know were a thing.

I have https://www.amazon.com/Hozan-JIS-5-JIS-Screwdriver-Gen/dp/B003F63WI8 recommended by someone else on the boards.

Man, I'm loving this thread. You guys have already saved me a ton of heartache. lol

Edit: If someone wants to make a suggestion on a set of M3/M4 screws, I wouldn't object. ;)

Sorry, don't mean to spam this thread with "basic" questions, but this set ought to do the trick, yes?

Those would work fine especially for the monitor mount.

I'm personally not a fan of the socket type heads and instead went with something like these:

But that was because I intended to use them for my cab restoration project.

Thank you so much, you guys are a life saver.
