What's new

Why haven't you Pre-Ordered a Capcom Spinner yet?

  • I've already placed a pre-order!

  • I already Own a Capcom Push-Spinner.

  • I've measured my cab and it wont fit (I'll post my cab and the measurement below).

  • I have no interest in playing any of those awesome spinner games.

  • Even though it's about 1/5th the price of an original spinner it's too expensive for my broke-ass.

  • Other (I'll explain below in a post).

  • I want one and the price is good, I just don't have the cash right now.

It's honestly bad timing for me , with the CPS1 multi, and the versus cab I jumped on unexpectedly, the arcade fund is tapppppped out for the next two months or so. I told hursit I'm definitely getting one though.

Also worth mentioning for any fence-sitters is @brizzo 's spinner board which lets you use spinners to send left & right taps to any JAMMA board. This makes many, many more games spinner-playable such as Galaga, Puzzle Bobble, Hypernoid, Tetris, Space Invaders, Asteroids, and many more.

MiSTer enthusiasts: @Derick2k is working on an adapter board to connect Hursit's spinner to the MiSTer platform.

I'm sure some kind of "official" board would be helpful but I mean you could gut a PC trackball mouse for the same effect. or just use Brizzo's adapter if you've got your Mister setup for JAMMA already.

For me, it's the games.

I appreciate the effort no doubt, but I don't own any of the games and sourcing them isn't worth the cost to me since they also have zero nostalgia value. To take it a step further, if I was to play any of the games via Mame or the mister, I'd likely look into a cheaper alternative since again, I'm no spinner purist.

I already have a 1p spinner panel for my sega cabs. If I were to drop $$ on this I would definitely want two, and I just have too many other projects going on at the moment to do that right now :(

Two questions that might sway me:
1. Is Brizzo's adapter board still readily available and being produced?
2. Does the spinner fit in a New Astro City? (I think it'd be helpful to list compatible/incompatible cabinets in the first post.)

True,

But....this should take care of joystick, buttons, spinner and also a rotary stick like the LS-30 :D

The answer to Question 1 at least is Yes. I ordered one from him two weeks ago.

The official thread has info on cabinet compatibility. AFAIK there have not been any cabs CONFIRMED not working yet (only confirmed working, and speculation with people too lazy to measure to confirm).

This is why the poll option for fitment is worded the way it is.

I meant the first post in this thread: https://www.arcade-projects.com/thr...by-hursit-official-interest-check-poll.17816/

That thread is 20 pages and the only mention of fitment on the first page, in the first post is "There are plans for a slimmer version to be made that can fit shallower cab control panels like the Taito Vewlix."

I get that one should read an entire thread, but it's 20 pages, and it's also basically asking for $500. So the easier it is to understand, the better.

After ctrl+f'ing for astro I've found these posts:

It would seem that the spinners will fit in an Astro City but as far as I can tell, there's still speculation and second hand info. A picture of the spinner mounted to a panel in these various cabs would go a long way to clear up fitment concerns. Especially when the first post more or less still (maybe incorrectly now) implies that a shorter one is in the works.

*Other*

I ordered CPS1 multi and it took my money. So, it takes some time before I can go for the spinner...

Also, regarding space requirement for the spinner:

80mm in height should be more than enough, I measured my spinner installed in a vewlix at 78mm

Here are the other dimensions

So, if anyone cares to reports on fitment regarding their cabs, that would be awesome.
Also, some control panels might fit 1 spinner, but possibly not 2 as some control panels slope on the sides.
