What's new
The fx-888d looks like something I can afford. The FR-300 is like $250 on Amazon though. Can I still desolder fine with the fx-888d?

Any youtube tutorials on removing the super cap? Anyone just snipped it off somehow with pliers?

I want the nice desoldering gun but hesitant on price even the lower priced one. Decisions lol.
Let me be the devil on your shoulder and encourage you to at least save towards your desoldering gun.

If it’s not in the budget. You “can” use solder braid or a solder sucker for a couple dollars.

It’s just that both require like 5 hands and awkward angles and your soldering iron to be close to the pad which can risk your pad disconnecting.

Removed the super cap with this bad boy and some pliers. One side melted fine other almost came out and had to snip the bottom of the leg. Everything works though so although not as clean as a desoldering gun but got it done.

I have DIMM FIRM 4.01. Is it easy to update the firmware? I think there is one revision after 4.01?

Anyone know what these red symbols at the bottom corners of Virtua Fighter 4 are?

You have a NetDimm, right @Segafan1985
Are you Netbooting with WiPi: Naomi Pi 'WiPi Netbooter' - compatible with Pi 3&4
There is a Flash firmware in that.
4.01 is more than fine of course. 4.02 just adds support for more Compact Flash card manufacturers (as far as I am aware...).
Oh ok. If there’s no game comparability improvements I’ll prob keep it as is.

If I did decide to do it do I just place a file on the Sd card in the pi? Or is the firmware flash actually done on the Naomi 2 somehow?

to go from 4.01 to 4.02 you would just send it like any other net boot bin.

How could I determine if I have the WiiPi Netbooter that is mentioned above? I bought all my stuff preconfigured.

Trying to figure out how to get the SD card out. Tried pulling the screen and board off of the top with no luck. How do I open this to get access to the sd card lol

Oh wow, not even sure what that is... is it a MicroSD card sitting on a half-sized SD card adapter?
Will it just push in to eject?

I got this far. Says TF -> SD

Yeah, that’s an r-pi 1, it won’t be able to run the WiPi image, because it doesn’t have wireless on the board

No.

The wipi image uses @DragonMinded’s tools to seriously destroy other solutions.

You can NetBoot multiple DIMMs from one pi, you can specify which game to boot by default when the netdimm connects to the lan.. and many MANY others.

It also can update over the internet, provided it has a connection.

It’s so rad.
